5 Days Vientiane Easy Rider To Pakse

5 Days Vientiane Easy Rider To Pakse
Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Vientiane to Paksan / Vieng Kham (~145 km) ( L , D)
8:00 AM - Your Easy Rider guide will pick you up from your hotel in Vientiane early in the morning. You will head east out of the capital city, escaping the urban sprawl to ride along the scenic Route 13.

The Ride: The terrain transitions quickly from the lowlands of the Mekong River into rolling green hills.

Highlights: Stop at quiet roadside villages, sample traditional Lao snacks like sticky rice in bamboo (Khao Lam), and enjoy panoramic views of the river bordering Thailand.

Overnight: Local guesthouse in Paksan or Vieng Kham.

Day 2: Vieng Kham to Thakhek (~180 km) ( B , L , D )
This segment introduces you to the dramatic geology of Central Laos as you approach the start of the famous Thakhek Loop region.

The Ride: The road gets significantly more scenic as massive, jagged limestone karsts rise vertically out of the flat rice paddies.

Highlights: Stop at the Phou Hin Poun National Protected Area viewpoints to look down across the "forest" of stone peaks. If time permits, your guide will take you down a dirt track to stretch your legs inside one of the lesser-known local limestone caves.

Overnight: A riverside hotel in the historic town of Thakhek, looking directly across the water at Thailand.

Day 3: Thakhek to Savannakhet (~135 km) ( B, L , D )
A faster, smoother riding day allows you to cover flat terrain quickly while building in ample time for cultural exploration.

The Ride: Steady cruising down the southern stretch of Route 13. Your guide can navigate the larger commercial trucks safely, allowing you to take in the vast agricultural heartland of Laos.

Highlights: Arrive in Savannakhet by early afternoon to explore its remarkably preserved, faded French colonial architecture. Visit Wat Xayaphoum, the city's oldest and most vibrant monastery temple.

Overnight: Boutique hotel in Savannakhet.

Day 4: Savannakhet to Tad Lo (Bolaven Plateau) (~220 km) ( B, L, D )
This is your longest and most spectacular riding day, taking you far away from the lowlands up into the refreshing highlands of Southern Laos.

The Ride: You will leave Route 13 and climb onto the northern edge of the Bolaven Plateau. The air turns crisp and cool as you ascend into the jungle.

Highlights: Ride through traditional ethnic minority villages (like the Katu and Alak tribes). Stop at Tad Pasuam, a beautiful horseshoe-shaped waterfall.

Overnight: A rustic, peaceful riverside guesthouse in Tad Lo Village. In the late afternoon, you can watch the local mahouts wash the village elephants in the river near Tad Hang.

Day 5: Tad Lo to Pakse via Paksong (~90 km) ( B , L )
Your final day targets the ultimate highlights of the Bolaven Plateau before dropping down into your destination city.

The Ride: Winding mountain roads cutting directly through lush agricultural highlands.

Highlights:

Visit Tad Fane, the highest waterfall in Laos, where two twin rivers plunge over 100 meters down a sheer jungle gorge.

Take a coffee plantation tour at a local estate to sip fresh, locally grown robusta coffee and learn how the volcanic soil powers the region's economy.

Arrival: Arrive in Pakse by late afternoon, where your Easy Rider will drop you off at your hotel or the local transport hub, successfully completing your North-to-South journey.
